See Europe
There are oh so many ways to see Europe. If you have unlimited time and wealth, you can recreate the Grande Tour of the 18th century. This was to celebrate a 21-year old coming of age. It was an immersion into the art, history, culture, and roots of Western Civilization. They honed their language and culinary skills. A FABULOUS post-grad education.
Or, you can get a two-week Eurorail pass and try to “visit” all 50 countries. Sleeping while the train passes through _______ does NOT count.
I do not find either option that appealing. I am looking for something in-between.
For me, 7-10 days is about as long as I want to be away. By day 12, I find my energy to climb another set of steps for the view of the abbey, or landside or city below is just not as high as on day one when I wanted to see everything.
Let me clarify when I am on a work trip, I take very few down days. Or even afternoons off as I want to try and share everything with you.
If you are going for more than ten days, I think downtime is essential. If for nothing else than to do laundry.
Do the more strenuous activities in the morning when you have the energy, and it may be cooler. Events, where you can sit or be inside, you will do in the afternoon. Or a siesta back at the hotel, or waterside.
See Europe, but in a way, that you will remember what you see.
With so many options, why are you waiting? What are you ready to see?
