There is something for everyone.

You will see something 1000 or more years old around every other corner.

Sitting in between are glittering jewels from the Renaissance.

Also, every neighborhood seems to have its own charming piazza.

NOT AS ANCIENT ARCHITECTURE.

Due to its historical importance, the Old City (Historical center) does not get much new modern construction these days.

However, hundreds of years of old architecture more than makeup for it.

One of the masterpieces of Rome, Michelangelo's Dome of St Peter's Basilica.

SEE ROME’S ART.

In fact, some of Rome’s most magnificent art is not in museums.

Naturally, the Vatican Museums hold masterpieces. But, there are other places to see works by some of the greatest artists of Italy.

Homes.

From every century, there are examples of artists working to decorate the interiors and exteriors of homes.

Piazzas.

In addition to their own homes, benefactors are competing to beautify church fronts and piazzas as well.

The centerpiece of the Piazza Novona is Bernini's Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi - Fountain of the Four Rivers.

City Works.

Also, the city is often sponsoring contests to design fountains and other municipal areas. As a result, no surface is safe.

A beautiful public work, the Trevi Fountain is the end of an aquaduct.
