SEE HISTORIC BELLAGIO.
NEARBY BELLAGIO
OUTSIDE BELLAGIO

The first time you see Bellagio it is love.
Bellagio Italy.

Why would you want to see Bellagio?

There is no visible ancient architecture.

There no Greek or Roman sites to visit.

It is not on the way to anywhere else; you need to plan to get there.

There are no caravans of tour buses descending on it.

And those are the reasons you want to see Bellagio.

You can actually experience the destination as it is, not an Italian amusement park.

As you can see Bellagio is on a hillside.
Bellagio has numerous vertical streets.

Come, let’s see why this special corner of northern Italy deserves a visit. And experience the magic it holds.

See Bellagio, the Town.

The main reason people come to Bellagio is to relax. The views of the mountains, the lakeside breezes, and the lack of massive tourism make for a relaxing setting.

There is great Lombardy cuisine and wine in cafes to award-winning dining rooms. Boutiques are in every other nook and cranny.

And there are a few sites to see.

There is a wonderful promenade along the waterfront from the ferry terminal south all the way to the I Giardini di Villa Melzi (botanical gardens.)

Bellagio is visually over-stimulating.

Mediterranean colors hundreds of miles from the sea.

Bellagio does not have just one look.
There is a hodgepodge of architecture.

The best way to see Bellagio is on foot
One of the covered arcades.

The Alps tower over the lake. There are lake views from every other bend in the path. And the fresh air and verdant scenes are everywhere else.

The whole region overflows with shadows and shades.
The mountains catching the morning light.

Some Sightseeing.

Torre Delle Arti Bellagio – is an 11th-century tower once being part of the town’s defense. Today, it is home to an art museum hosting local and international artists.

The tower can be a highlight of an evening walk.
Torre Delle Arti Bellagio at night.

Villa Serbelloni Rockefeller – The 500-year-old villa, once belonging to the Dukes of Bellagio, is now home to the Rockefeller Foundation.

The villa is not open to the public. The villa gardens contain some rare floral species, and a guide leads a tour each morning and afternoon. The views from the top over the town and lake are stunning.

The view over Bellagio and the lake is outstanding.

They use all available space so look in the nooks.
The pharmacy is next to the café, next to the boutique, next to…

At some point, see Bellagio from the water.
The passenger ferry dock is right downtown.

Basilica of San Giacomo – is a 12th-century church, although several restorations have taken place. Inside, you can find frescoes, sculptures, and side chapels that will take you to a different century. The church is near the top of the historic district, adjacent to Torre Delle Arti Bellagio.

The basilica is adjacent to the tower.

If walls could talk, we would hear of kings, queens and 1940s movie stars. The forgotten Grande Bretagne.

Stop by for tea, a drink, or dinner.
The Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni is still open.

And this is just some of the areas you can walk and explore. It changes at night, so explore in the day and evening.

See the Area Around Bellagio.

Grab a car or a bike and explore outside of Bellagio.

The Bellagio views can be amazing.

With thermal baths all around, why hurt yourself?
The fishing port of Porticciolo Di Pescallo is just over the hill from Bellagio.

Pass through the remains of the city’s walls and explore.

As you drive or bike along, you will see jewels, some just out of view, around every other curve.

See Bellagio Further Afield

The Navigazione Lago di Como, which offers boat service to numerous towns on the lake.

Any visit to this area requires a boat ride.
Various size ferries for cars or just passengers plow the lake.

The Como area is full of surprises.
Here a nook, there a cranny.

Today, it is in my top ten of hotels to stay at, once.
Hotel Villa de Est began as a private residence.

The Villa Carlotta is a royal residence from the late 17th century, which is now open to the public. You can tour the residence with its impressive furnishings and art collection. The gardens are equally impressive.

The endless string of villas is amazing.

Bellagio will be in the shade for at least another hour.

The morning sun is just reaching Cernobbio.

Laglio has numerous amazing villas.

See Bellagio Summary

As you can see, Bellagio probably has much more to offer than you knew. Unquestionably, you come for the scenic setting, but check out the cuisine.

Using the ferry system, it can be a great base for exploring the lake and neighboring villages.

Take a stroll through a once Ducal garden, or wander trails through the woods.

Come, see Bellagio and experience it for yourself.
