THE ISLAND.
Come, see Cephalonia, the largest of the Ionian islands and yet a secret to most non-Greeks. With history, cuisine and wine stretching back thousands of years, its worth a closer look.
The island also has charming villages dotting the hillsides and coasts. Each one is telling a story. Then there is the natural beauty of the island. From the mountains to the seaside and even sub-terranean.
See Cephalonia and all its wonders.

SEE CEPHALONIA TOWN
Fortunately, WWII and Nazi bombings did not erase as much of the island’s architecture as nearby Corfu, but many architectural treats did perish. But there are a few special ones that did survive, and others have new copies. It is still a great town to “lose” yourself.
A day strolling through the town of Cephalonia is rewarding just for architecture and relaxation. The waterside market and plazas add to this.
CEPHALONIA VILLAGES.
Further afield are small villages from yesteryear and some that are now tourist destinations. Some are worth visiting because of what little they offer.
You can see Cephalonia offers many different styles of villages. Some are more traditional. Some are on top of a mountain while others are by the sea. See them all.
Cephalonia Island
The island’s interior and its shorelines offer many different scenes. Mountain tops have ruins of ancient temples and castles. Caves and caverns offer views into another world. There are sandy beaches and rocky cliffs, both offering views out to sea.
See Cephalonia Summary
The island has so many blessings. Although much of its architecture and history takes a beating in 1943, some remains. And the beauty of the island is still there.
