Exploring Worlds
Old & New
Start Your JourneyMy Ethos
Exploring “Worlds” can mean something different to every person. Old Worlds, New Worlds, Ancient Worlds, The World Undersea, the World of Nature, the World of food and drink, a World of experiences...
My goal with this website is not to tell people how to travel per se, as it is to help them want more, look further, explore deeper. Get off of the bus and see, smell, hear, feel and taste more of what this Wonderful World has for you, and collect experiences and memories along the way.
We are not going to discuss extreme sports unless it is part of a destinations DNA. No Segways, no jet-skis, no zip lines. We are going to use our own two feet to uncover the real destination.
Is a meal included on this? Trust me, I will cover cuisine and local beverages. But only those that are part of the locations "experience."
You will not find suggestions for Chinese food outside of China. (An exception being the occasional Chinatown.) What about Thai food in Texas? I'm sure it's incredible, and some websites will direct you to it. But, not on this website.
Looking for the cheapest place to eat in Paris? This is probably not the right blog for you. Looking for the best eating "experience?" then we are going to get along just fine. Please understand, this often is NOT the most expensive.
Expensive MAY equal "best" sometimes. Other times, it just equals expensive. I'm not afraid to point out the difference.
This is not a "luxury" travel website. Nor is it a guide on how to scrape by with just barely enough. There are sites for both of those extremes.
It is a "quality experience" website. These experiences may or may not be pricey, but will always be money well spent. You should see the value of what you come away with. If you experience life the right way, you only need to live once.
Think of this as your daily Sunday Travel Section. Pour a cup, or mix a cocktail and let's experience the worlds.

TIPS FROM THOM
I want to show you the world.
I have advised, lectured or lead more than 2 million guests during my 30+ years in the travel industry. Exploring ancient worlds as well as new ones while visiting five continents, and over 50 countries.
My wanderlust was already apparent at the age of six due to wonderful parents who took me on trips several times a year. Also, add an aunt and uncle who, amongst other things, showed me how to fly Cessna planes, pilot houseboats and drive a stick shift VW Bug convertible. Before I was 14, my curiosity lead me to working the throttle of a freight train and behind the wheel of a riverboat under steam.
It wasn't too much of a stretch to find me employed on cruise ships soon after college. A job blending my stage and television past with travel seemed too good to be true... AND I was to be paid for it? I worked for Italian, British, Norwegian, Dutch, Greek and even an American Exploration company at a time when the most titanic of "cruise" ship was less than 2200 passengers, and conglomerates did not own them. I started as an Asst Cruise Director, making my way quickly up to Cruise Director. But I soon traded in my bingo balls for the opportunity to share the destinations with the guests as a Tour Manager.
This website is a way for me to continue showing the world to the world, through my eyes and my opinions. As I do not accept sponsored content or paid trips, I am free to comment on the good as well as the not so good. In the future, I may add links to products I feel positive about, but it will be AFTER I have vetted them. I am often (always?) the hardest to please.
Travel sharpens the mind, can give you a new perspective, a chance to try new things, meet new people, and get out of the ol Monday - Sunday routine. You may exercise some parts of the body that may have gone unused in a while. And if you're not careful, you just might learn something and come back renewed, with a different perspective.
So come, we are exploring and experiencing the world!
